Volvo Repair: Brakes Volvo S70, 1999, serpentine belt, volvo s70

Hi, thanks so much for the quick response. Here are the recommendations he made for my car:

Engine mount
Read pads
Rear rotors
2 front tires
Spark plugs
Fuel service
Serpentine belt
Front engine mount

What are reasonable prices for these services? The ones he quoted me were all more than $100 and the brake repairs were $650.

I just took my Volvo to the shop and the guy said my brakes are down to "5 percent" and need to be replaced. What does this mean? He said it would cost $650. Is that a reasonable price?

Alexis, No, Its not reasonable at all, he is ripping you off.  If anything what is to be replaced is brake pads and perhaps rotors.  All 4 wheels or just the fronts?  5 percent meaning that there isnt much pad material left.  Do you have the estimate in front of you on what he would be replacing?  Let me know.  Roger

Alexis, These are all approximate prices that Im giving you.  since there are 4 mounts on that car, I would need to know which one he is talking about.  Rear Rotors and pads should only be around $350 parts and labor.  Fuel service isnt necessary. Tires vary on price so that is about $250.00 The serpentine belt is expensive so that is about $130. Spark plugs are about 75-80 bucks.  The front engine mount is around 150.  Was this a Volvo Tech or some Joe's Garage?  Remember that all these are approximate prices.  If you want I can get you an accurate price so you can compare.  Roger
