Volvo Repair: 850 sedan volvo a/c evaporator, haynes manual, toilet paper

How difficult is it to replace an a/c evaporator core. The dealer says that it is leaking and will cost $1200 to replace and recharge a/c system. I would like to try and replace it with a Haynes Manual. Will i need special tools.

Carlton, I will say this only Once.  DONT TRY IT.  Leave this to a Volvo Shop.  That Haynes manual is nothing but Toilet paper.  There are things in there that book would never show you.  That Dash is very sensitive and things will break.  1200 is the average price.  We charge about $985 to do it.  It is very labor intensive.  If you live in Florida, we can do it for you.  Im a seasoned Master tech and still have issues when doing these.  Save you sanity and let a Volvo shop do it.  Roger
