Volvo Repair: Service Message for the 2004.5 S40, trip odometer, information square

Hi James,

Can you tell me how to reset the "TIME FOR REGULAR SERVICE" message on the 04 (New body style) S40.

Answer
Turn the key o position 1.  Press and hold the odometer reset button.  While still holding the button, turn the key to position 2, before the trip odometer resets to 0.  Keep holding the button for 5-10 seconds until you see the information square in the center start to flash.  After 3 flashes release the button.  Do not hold until it stops flashing on its own or you will have to do it again.  Remove the key from the ignition and then restart the car to verify that it has reset.  May take a couple trys to get the timing right.
