Volvo Repair: Volvo 240 gl 1985, volvo 240 gl, volvo 240

Question
Hi we live in Australia WE bought a 1985 volvo 240 gl wagon
recently and it is using way too much fuel. we only get 240 km
to a full tank and it is costing us a fortune. we just had fuel
injectors replaced and it has made no difference, do you have
any ideas what would be causing this . there is also a arrow light
on the dash board that will not go off, my mechanic has no idea
how to fix the problem.
Blessings Janelle

Answer
injectors  never go bad you have problem if you say you have the arrow light on  try to turn it off on the side of the gearshifter there is the overide buton too turn off the light if it tunrs off it is good if it dont turn off when pushing the button than you have bad realy for or bad wire  going to trans from shifter switch to transmisson .the arrow is for towing to stay in lower gears  you will waste more fuel with arrow on  tramsision shifts will change to have more torq but less efficency .so you have either bad overdrive relay bad wire  or bad sloenoid for overdrive in transmisson .good luck
