Volvo Repair: power windows, window switches, back doors

Question
I have a 1998 S70 volvo.  Recently I have been having touble with the power windows.  The rear passenger window would not go up unless I used the actual switch on the rear door.  Today, it went down controling it from the drivers door, but now it will not go up even when I try to use the rear door switch.  In addition, now the passenger front window is not responding up or down from the drivers side or the passengers side.  Can you tell me what you think the problem is and how I might fix it.

thank you very much

Answer
Greetings Julie,
Almost always this problem can be traced to failed  window switches.
The drivers side switches play effect on the back doors being operated from the rear switch..in other words..ALL the switches on drivers control panel MUST be in good working order.
          Other considerations..failing window relay..
failing wiring to or from divers side controls.
If you do this job..be carefull as to how you remove old switches...you could damage part that holds switch in place and have a switch that won't work as it should..learn from back seat switch before doing drivers control.
Purchase switches on internet.. much less expensive.
           Happy motoring,
