Volvo Repair: Power/fuel problem?, vacuum lines, throtle body

Question
I have a 1986 740 wagon and when I apply any amount of pressure to the gas pedal in any gear the car cuts out. Where do I start to look to repair this issue. Thank you.

Answer
Paul, I would start by removing the throtle body and give it a thorough cleaning with carb clean.  Also, with the car running, remove the air mass meter connector.  The car will surge.  If you plug it back in and the car stalls, then the meter is at fault.  Check all vacuum lines as well as the hose connecting to the throtle body.  Roger
