Volvo Repair: 86 740 wagon power attenna, antenna connections, power antenna

Question
I do a fair bit of work on my car. It has 160k+ miles. I replaced the power antenna with one from a junk yard. It ran for a minute, pulling the antenna down the rest of the way, but doesn't operate at all now. Plus, the radio used to work, but now doesn't. The fuses look good, and the clock display on the radio has power. I'd like to get the radio going again, even if the antenna doesn't work.

Answer
Hi James...
Test all antenna connections especially the coax that connects to radio and the antenna...for testing purposes install used plain jane antenna to radio..
With test light test voltage at antenna motor while Fred operates the up/down action on the radio...
If voltage is ok....you may have to open antenna motor and do exploratory research...limit switch problem?.sometimes..if you hit the motor,in the right way, with a medium sized hammer it shocks the motor into working....if this happens...make the motor work for a bit..
                  Good luck,
