Volvo Repair: Volvo S80 T6 Wheel Alignment Problems, volvo s80 t6, kumho ecsta 711

Question
I have a 1999 Volvo s80 T6 (now has 110,000 miles and I religiously have the required service work done as suggested in the manual) which has been having a continuous problem with wearing out tires.  I was using the z rated michelin's which were $225 each then changed to a Kumho Ecsta 711 235/45r17 tire which is a little wider but much less.  While Butler Tire put the tires on, I had them do a wheel alignment (which they did) to Volvo's spec.  One month later my front tires were badly worn.  I took the car back to Butler Tire and they gracefully replaced the front tires but said they would not attempt an alignment on the car again since they said the 99 s80 had alignment problems, etc.  So I went right over to the Volvo Dealership and had them do the alignment.  I asked Volvo about the alleged wheel alignment problem Butler Tire referred to and they said they never heard of it, no such problem exist.  I asked them to check every aspect of the cars suspension system that impacts the tire alignment / wear and tear and they found everything working as it should.  At 5,000 miles we had the tires rotated and there was obvious wear showing especially on the front tires just like before.  At the next 5,000 mile interval the tires on the front were badly worn and now have to be replaced again.  I went back to the dealer and asked something isn't right, they checked and came back with the same answer...everything is working as it should but I need another alignment.

My wife drives the car, never in an accident, on solid / paved roads ... no pot holes, no hit curbs, etc.  Can you tell me what could be causing this problem?  I'm going through tires like we are at NASCAR and it's getting very expensive.  Thanks much - Chris

Answer
Hi Chris,
I wish I had a quick answer.....maybe super soft tire compound offering superb traction without long term wear.
Front end parts should never need f/e alignments in 5000 mile intervals....something is wrong.
