Volvo Repair: car dies while driving for no obvious reason, turbo volvo, poor connections

my 1989 740 turbo volvo dies randomly even on the freeway!  Sometimes it starts up again within 5 minutes or sometimes not for 20 minutes. my service engine lite comes on steady when i first start the car but then goes off within 15 minutes. the relay or sensor or whatever its called gets super hot.its the first one on the left in first row right behind the fuses located under my radio. im baffled help PLEASE!!!

 Hi,
        These 740 models had problems with electrical wiring.
       Poor connections could be the root cause to your problem....spend time looking closely at connections...determine what relay? you say gets very hot.

        Consider changing your fuel filter.
