Volvo Repair: air conditioning, r 134, freon

Question
how do you tell if your air conditioning system has had the changeover to new freon.I have an 89 240 station 217k runs great,new belts,compressor turns freely,good condition.previous owner records have no info on air...mark

Hello Mark,  There needs to be a label to the effect if its been upgraded to R-134A The charge fittings are different,they are large and of the 'quick-disconnect type' The guage set ups don't match,so you can't get in trouble.Your model is R-12.Have her up-graded to R-134,you'll be glad you did!
