Volvo Repair: 740 turbo sunroof, dummies, roofs

Dear bilbothegreat,

On the most stormiest of nights the sunroof on my 1988 740 turbo will not close.  When depressing the button, it makes a clicking noise, as if the motor will not engage the teeth that makes it close.  As you can tell, I am not the most volvo do-it-yourself savvy, is there an explanation you can give on how to fix this problem?  A sort of Volvo for dummies?

   There's little that you can do..yourself.
   I'd beat on the roof...outside...then inside..
    have someone help push the roof...while you work the button.
  most of the time these get stuck...from lack of use.
  access to the parts require special telant...sorry.
  
   You'll need a repair shop...get a estimate.
   use used parts.
    most of the time...these roofs need to be cleaned nd lubricated...so they can last for the next 100k miles.
