The headlights will not work unless you a: turn ignition switch back just until engine dies, or b: remove blue/red wire from ignition switch wiring connector.  Of course engine will not run with said wire removed, but lights work perfectly, including dimmer switch.

Hello Gene,  Your ignition switch sound like is time to retire. It is a dealer item and eazy to install. The 'electrical' part is what fails. You approach from the drivers sd. of the ster.col.,remove the key.Remove the panels around the ster col. Trox screws are used. There is a 3mm allen screw that holds the adjustment handle in place, remove it.Un-plug thre round multi wire connector.Remove the two screws and its out.Thank you and good hunting!  PKD

Hello Patrick,  I found the culprit and it wasn't the ignition switch.  It was one of those elusive ground problems.  It seems the Headlight relay grounds through the same wire as the fuelpump relay and the ground had high resistance.  I piggy-backed a good ground to the circuit and now all is well.  Thanks, Gene

Answer
Hello Gene,  Excellent, your find is now part of my own personal 'fault trace' procedure. There were headlite switch issues early on,you can check your car with the VIN # ask the dealer to run your # to check for any 'open'service recalls due on the car.Again Excellent Hunting !  PKD
