This is going to sound like a repeat of an earlier situation with another car.

We have a 1990 760 Turbo (intercooler) wagon with 147k miles.  The vehicle will die at random, stop lights, freeway, city streets, etc.  It will usually start up once I cost to stop, or it will take a minute or so before it starts.  It can go months before it dies, and then it may die every day for a week or so.  I've had 3 different mechanics try to solve the mystery.  So far, we have replaced the System Relay, Air Mass Meter, Spark Plugs, Cap & Rotor, Plug Wires, Speed sensor, Power Amp Ignition, and TB Gasket (during cleaning I'm assuming).  No luck with fixing the problem so far.  Want to take a crack at it?  I just checked the fault codes and they read 2-3-2 & 3-1-1.

Thanks for the help!
Answer -
could be a bad fuel pump relay or some of the models had a radio supression relay that also powered the injetors.this would be a black relay under the hood.near the power steering resevoir or the coolant resevoir.

Thanks for the quick response!!!

I think I will try replacing both the relays (if I have both of them).  Where is the fuel pump relay located?  I have 2 relays on the drivers side fender.  Both are monted to a plate on the fender.  One is the system relay which has already been replaced.  I'll have to look around and see if there is a radio supression relay.

The Volvo just quit on me this morning at a stop light. Just died. It did start on the second try. Total time that elapsed was about 20 seconds. No check engine fault this time. I had been on the road for about 35 minutes when it happened.

Answer
the system relay is the radio supression relay that is what volvo calls it.the fuel pump relay it will either be behind the ashtray, or behind the passenger side under dash panel.if behind this pane it will be a green relay if not it will be as described below.

the fuel pump relay is located on the fuse panel behind the ashtray.remove the ashtray and then remove trim around lighter socket then you will see 2 screws remove the screws and the storage area will come out the relay is white and about 1x3x2 inch.it will be towards the drivers side of the panel.
