Volvo Repair: 740 turbo fuel problems, fuel pump relay, fusible links

Question
-------------------------
Followup To Hi,
Perhaps I did not make myself clear. There is ZERO power(electrical) to either the main pump or the in tank pump. Only when I run direct from battery to in main pump do I get fuel to the rail. Have plenty of spark, but still no fire at the ngine. It does not even make an attempt to start it seems.. Tank is full and no power to in tank pump at all. replaced fuel relay and no change. Is there an injector relay as well? And why is there no power to fuse block 11, the in tank pump circuit?

thanks for your help.

Question -
i have a 1988 740 turbo. there is no electrical power to the fuse that controls the in tank pump. i cannot get power to the inline pump as well even though that fuse has power both fuses are good. the in line pump runs normally when power run direct, i cannot tell about the in tank pump as i have not run a line directly to it yet. the car was running fine and then stopped. i had the tank filled and it ran until below 3´quaters full. it was the ground on the in tank pump that had come loose. i reconnected it and now cannot get any fuel to the injectors. help i am stuck in mexico. can it be the relay

Thank you so much

First, I'm sorry for the delay getting to your question.  I have been in orlando for the past few days for XC90 V8 training and have been unable to take emails.

If the pump was running but you cannot get any fuel to the injectors then there is a clog in the fuel system lines somewhere.  Check if you can get fuel at the filter, and then check to see if you can get fuel at the fuel rail.  Just keep checking different points until you find the clog.  Hope that helps.

Answer
Could be a fuel pump relay, inside the dash behind the cigarette lighter.  Couldn't be a system relay because that powers spark as well.  If the fuse isn't being powered though, check the fusible links.  Power has got to make it to the fuse first.  There are main fuses too.  Perhaps one of those has blown.  You'll need a wiring diagram though.  I don't have one for that year so I couldn't say for sure or not if its exactly the same.
