hello, I have a 1999 s70 l5 non turbo with 52,000 miles.there are times when i try to start, it runs for approx 2seconds then seems like no fuel.I remove the key try again and it normally starts right up. However if i don't remove the key and try it does not want to start again until several trys. i just had the throttle module replaced 2 months ago. thanks

Could be the CDM (CAN network and Driver information Module).  Its the module that controls all the communication on the network.  The ignition switch communicates to the CDM that then goes to the Engine module and Throttle module.  Its the only thing i can figure.  You can try resetting the car manually and hope it works (fixes non-working sunroofs all the time).  Put the key in the door lock and turn it to lock then unlock then lock again.  If that doesn't work, you'll have to get a shop to look at it.  If it always does it like that with the key then it has to be electrical and it sounds like a real difficult one to find (especially without dealer special tools).  I'm sorry that i don't have anything better to tell you but it's not something that you'll be able to find yourself most likely.  Save yourself alot of wasted time and get a second opinion.  If the throttle module didn't fix it, take it back to them and let them check it again.  You could get the fix for free if they misdiagnosed it in the first place.  Hope that helps.

Answer
Don't think so.  If it was the key it wouldn't start period.  The different key maybe the valet key.  So even so, that key will start the car just not open the trunk.  The key ring antenna could be malfunctioning though.  It reads the signal from the key to authorize a start with the computer.  Its a hard one to diagnose without actually looking at the car and observing all symptoms and eliminating possible causes.  You may just have to drop 50 bucks or so to get the problem diagnosed and then decide what to do.
