I have a volvo 850 94 that shuts off sometimes when i come to a stop or if it is idling.I just changed the speed sensor, camshaft sensor, and crankshaft sensor. It worked fine for about half an hour but started shutting off at stops lights or when it is idling. Could it be the fuel pump relay?
Answer -
Hello,
yes it can be. However, it can be mass air flow sensor, because its main mentality "hot-wire anomemeter" that means according to your writings the car stops when it hots, so hot-wire anomemeter may have problem with the increasing heat. Try the car with a new air mass meter.

another question:
The mechanic told me that if the car keeps shutting down he will change the "lock converter in the transmission". Does it make sense? He changed the above mentioned parts ($660-is this a fair price for such a job) because he did a diagnostic on the car and those things came up as bad or fault. My "check engine" light did come off.

Answer
Hello,
yes I understand, he can be right. Because he tested the car, this can be true, "lock-up torque convertor" causes the problem you described. However, it should be decided very clearly, because only lock-up torque convertor can not solve the problem, maybe your transmission may have bigger problem...
