Volvo Repair: chime on all the time, fuse panel, glovebox

i have a 88 740 wagon that the chime would chime when ever you turned on the radio or turned on dome light/opened the door  i removed radio and the prblem went away temp. now the chime stays on all the time as soon as you insert the ign key .i was going to unplug chime but after removeing glovebox/inst.cluster /radio/and heater control i was unable to see it let alone unplug it man !! was this car built around this chime would app.any sugg. you could short of arson thanks much chris m

I actually find arson can fix a multitude on different problems.I would try the following to locate the chime.

the chime  relay is located on the fuse panel behind the ashtray.remove the ashtray and then remove trim around lighter socket then you will see 2 screws remove the screws and the storage area will come out the relay is blue and about 1x1x3 inch.
