Volvo Repair: tracs and abs electronic, v70 glt, tracs

Hi,

I have a 1998 V70 GLT car and the abs and tracs light comes up about every other week.  My garage guy says it's the module but another mechanics tells me it might not be aligned properly?  what do you think?  If it is the module, can it be installed by me or it needs special adjustment as the piece is quite expensive.  Is it worth it to buy it used?

stay away from the mechanic who says it may be the alignment.your garage guy is correct.the most common problem 99.9% of the time is the control unit.it requires a torx 8 socket to remove it they are a special kind of bolt.I would not buy it used as any used one will have the same problem more than likely.
