Volvo Repair: Things to watch for when shopping, volvo specialist, car valuations

Question
Hi - I am currently shopping for a used Volvo.  There is one I am interested in that is a 1998, with 91,000 miles.  I would like to know what kinds of things I should look for in the way of maintenance or other potential problems.  Also should I be concerned about the number of miles on the car?  They are asking $8995 for it.  Particulars that I know are - 1998 Volvo S70, 4-dr sedan, 5-cylinder, gasoline, 2 wheel drive.  Thank you for your advice.

Answer
the 98 s70 is by far my favorite car. limited issues, i have seen alot of these cars with over 200k miles. avoid turbo's if possible just increased maintenance on them. all wheel drives can tend to be expensive (if you pop one tire, you need to replace all 4 or MAJOR damage WILL result to the 4wd unit). after that the biggest suggestion is to bring the car to a volvo dealer or a volvo specialist in your area. they can tell you what might be wrong with the car before you buy it. and i you want car valuations, try KBB.COM you can get used car retial prices there.
