Volvo Repair: Temperature gage and wipers, temperature gage, washer nozzles

I have a 1988 volvo 740 and the temperature gage no longer works. It was that way when I recently purcahsed it. I am looking to fixe it myself if possible. The needle does not move ever.

Also the sprayer for my windshield wipers does not work. Could it be a hose or the pump itself? Please let me know what things to look for.

the sprayer could very well be the washer nozzles themselves. they often clog up with debris, or there is a "t" valve located on the hood these often fail as well. if you cannot hear the pump running when you activate the sprayers then its possible you have a bad motor for the sprayers.
