Volvo Repair: Hard starting, fuel pressure regulator, check fuel

Question
I have a 1987 740 with the B230F four cylinder engine. When attempting to start it will crank four 5-10 seconds like it has no spark. After doing that 3 or 4 time it will start fine. I tried a different ignition module (under glove box) with no improvement. Fuel filter has been recently replaced. Noticed that after car has been running for awhile there would be a hissing noise (pressure) when removing the gas cap. Replaced the cap and it helped for a couple of days, then the hard starting returned.
Thanks,

Answer
you would need to check for spark and check fuel pressure on when trying to start to see if there is no spark or there is no fuel pressure sounds like it is taking awhle for fuel pressure to build up.it could be a bad in tnk pmp or hose ,possibly a bad check valve on the main fuel pump.it could also be a leaking fuel pressure regulator.
