Car Stereos: VR-3 in dash unit, dash unit, correct source

Ok i have a 98 Chrysler Cyris i have bout a VR-3 the one with the dvd player. my older brother did the wiring the look like the match up right to me how ever the parking break alert would not go away so we spliced it in to the ground wire alert gone. Now I am having trouble Playing well any thing other then the am/fm radio it show there is a disk and loading but does not play is it the wiring or the unit or me i have also miss place the remote PLEASE HELP.

Hi Andrew,

First off, you shouldn't be splicing anything to ground that's carrying voltage to make it go away -- this will at best cause a fuse pop, and at worst, an electrical fire.  Find the correct source of the issue and fix it, don't just ground it out.

The disc not working could be a sign of a dead unit, or the electricity going to it being insufficient (because of the ground out), and thereby causing it to not have enough power to spin up the disc.

Fix the parking brake light properly, and then test your wiring.  If everything checks out, you could have a busted deck.
