Buick/Olds: 1997 BUICK REGAL CRUISE CONTROL, buick regal, gm vehicles

Question
IF I HAVE NOT MANUALLY TURNED ON THE HEADLIGHTS (THEY CAME ON BECAUSE IT IS DARK), AND I TURN ON THE CRUISE CONTROL, THE CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK AND THE LIGHTS GO OFF AND EITHER BLINK OFF AND ON OR STAY OFF UNTIL I PULL OUT THE SWITCH TO TURN THEM ON MANUALLY.  WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?  THE CAR IS A 1997 BUICK REGAL LS.

Answer
Hey Ken

I have a better answer this time...I've found out through a bit of research that the cruise control and headlights, along with the turn signals, parking lights and 4 way flashers, all are grounded throygh the same terminal under the hood. The 97 regal's ground box is located just behind the battery and it's black.

Inside this ground box there are fuses and also a main ground wire. When there is too much power being grounded at once, the fuses are designed to only let power through for critical systems.

The ground connection must be corroded somewhat (which very common on GM vehicles). This can be rectified be simply cleaning the main ground connection for your car.

Let me know if I can be of more help.
