Buick/Olds: 94 buick park ave climate control, buick park ave, ac module

Question
I have a unique problem, when I have the heat on its warmer coming out of the pass vents than drivers side, if I shut the car off and restart it comes out hot on drivers side for a minute then turns cool, it also jumps from 85 deg right to 90 and at that point it switches only to floor vents, is this normal, and whenever I start the car- hot or cold the temp light on the heat control flashes for about a minute, and lastly my ext temp reads 182 deg, is this an ext sensor or the heat/ac module.

Thanks again

Answer
Bob, I happen to own a 94 Park Avenue too and the same thing happened to me.

Fortunately, it was an easy fix....unfortunately, it wasn't all that cheap. Sounds to me like the module itself is burned out.The module is the box itself that is in the dash that you press buttons on. The ext. temp. sensor is likely good, but the module isn't processing the info and displaying it correctly.

My car was also sending different temp air to different places. I couldn't find the problem and when I took the car into work and put it on the computer there, it told me the module was bad. I replaced it a year ago now and it's worked like a dream ever since.

Because the symptoms are SO alike, I'd have to say that your car has the exact same problem. You can buy a module new or used, whatever you like. New, expect to pay $150-$190
Used, expect to pay $45-$125.

Thanks for your letter, let me know if I can be of anymore help.
