Buick/Olds: Exhaust, exhaust system, muffler

Question
My exhaust is loud only when I give it gas, but quiet when idling, why could that be. There are no holes in my pipes or muffler, I had them all replaced 3 months ago.

Answer
The answer seems quite simple, it would appear that when you are revving the engine, it is pulling the connection apart where the manifold meets the pipe.

All engines tilt forward or backward when you drive. This movement is supposed to be expected by the exhaust and that is why the exhaust system is hung by rubber hangers. BUT, in your situation, the connection is loose between 2 pipes. The movement of the engine is pulling the connection apart. Since you say that you exhaust was replaced just 3 months ago, I would have to say that 1 of the connections wasn't tight.

You should simply be able to tighten the connection or replace the clamp for that connection. Either way, it sould be a relatively inexpensive fix.
