Buick/Olds: lOC radio, password code, waterpump

Question
I dis/reconnect the battery and the radio does not work or rspond to the steering wheel push buttons. It is a 97 Park Ave. and the radio has a display of lOC instead of the clock. What is wrong? Also I replaced the Serpentine belt with the waterpump and the motor seems to made a growling when exceling, is this possibly breaking in the belt?

Thanks

Answer
Ok, your radio says LOC, which means that it is LOCKED. It is the same thing that would happen if someone stole your radio and tried to use it in another car. Since it says LOC, that means that a security password code was used to arm the radio anti theft system. If it was you that entered the code into the radio, you will have to re-enter the code to unlock it. If you forgot the code or it wasn't you that entered it in the first place, you will have to bring it in to the dealer to have it unlocked with a factory back-up code. It only takes about 5 minutes.
Check to make sure that the belt was installed properly. Also check the belt tensioner pulley bearings and alternator bearings.
