Question
Hello tom my name is Steven and I have a 1992 Cadillac Eldorado  with 110,000 miles on it and the check engine light just came on and I saw your thing how to check the codes and the codes are E017, E098, A037 and R061. If you could please let me know what they mean or where to look them up at would be great. Thanks for your time

Answer
E017 = Left oxygen sensor not ready.

E098 = Park to neutral and drive to reverse in idle speed control range.

A037 = loss of instrument panel data.

R061 = force low or infl rest warning lamp circuit failure.

The first thing you want to do is replace the left oxygen sensor which is the one in the exhaust pipe below the valve cover that has the V-8 on the cover with the oil filler cap also on the valve cover inback of the radiator.

then you need to erase all the codes from the computers.

1. Engine off. Ignition ON.

2. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER buttons for 3 seconds and release them3. All the codes will display and will stop at PCM?

3. Push and release the HI button and you will see DATA.

4. push and release the LO button until you see CLEAR CODES.
