Cadillac: 86 Fleetwood, delay in shifting from 1st to 2nd, pressure gage, throttle cable

Question
The gas pedal is starting to feel heavy. When I take off from 1st gear it gets stuck in that gear and won't shift into second. Sometimes it doesn't shift until I hit about 25 mph. Please help!!

Could be:

Transmission needs to be serviced.
the govenor is sticking.
the throttle cable for the trans is mis-adjusted.
a 1-2 hift valve sticking in the valve body.

Your going to need to have a technician drive the vehicle and or put a pressure gage on the trans to make a diagnosis.
