Cadillac: Headliner, cardboard piece, delicate task

Question
Hello there.  In my 92 Sedan DeVille, the headliner is bubbled pretty bad above the driver seat and is sagging down.  I am going to replace the headling myself.  However, I don't know how to bring down the cardboard piece that the cloth is attached to.  If you know, how do you bring down the cardboard and put it back up safely after the new cloth is glued/cemented back on?  Thanks in advance.

Answer
This is a very delicate task to try and do yourself. Getting the headliner down requires removal of all the side mouldings and in some cases removal of the front seats in order to be able to twist and turn the headliner in order to get it out of the vehicle without damaging it.

After you do get iot out and get the new cloth put on IF you can get the old cloth OFF, It is so very easy to put dimples in the new headliner fabric when trying to manuever the headliner back into place.

You can do it but it is so so easy to damage it during installation that I let a professional body shop do mine.
