Cadillac: 98 Catera Suspension, strut bolts, 1998 cadillac catera

Question
1998 Cadillac Catera

When the front passenger side wheel comes into contact with a pot hole or bump it really thumps.  It feels like it bottoms out.  The driver side does not do this.  Can you educate me? Thanks

Answer
There are numerous possibilities.

FIRST: What mechanical work or ANY kind of work has been performed on the vehicle within the last 6 months or later ?.

As most problems that occur after a recent repair was made can be traced back to the area of where the repair was made as bolts have have been left loose and or parts installed incorrectly and or  possibly the new part has failed.

Look around in the area where work was performed.

Second You could have:

1. Loose strut bolts or faulty bushings or rubber boots.

2. Loose ball joints.

3. Loose brake caliper bolts or loose brake pads.

4. loose wheel bearing(s).

5. faulty CV joints if front wheel drive.

6. Loose/broken motor mounts or bolts.
