Question
How do you set the timing on a 350  i need to set the timing at 16 degrees above tdc i have a degree timming light but not sure how to use it....thanks for your time.......James

Answer
James ;
 HI - well you will take the light and put one wire to ground  and the other to pos+ and than the third to the no# 1 plug wire.  than if you have a vacume hose going to the dist. remove it from the dist. end and plug the hose so it will not suck in air, now the idle might go down a bit if it stalls, than turn it up to about 650-750 rpms  or more if needed  than with the light it should blink when you pull the trigger now , you should loosen the dist. hold down clamp a bit so the dist can tuen when you wish to adj. it but not that loose as it will turn itself so keep it hard to turn - now point the light at the timeing marks and 16 % above seems a lot  adv.  I do not think the marks even go past 8 so you will need a timeimg rev. tape to put on it.
so try it at   6 or 8 deg. and see how it is. ok p.s. how  do you get 16 deg. adv.  that is hi - hi it  might knock and might not run right.not to mention over heat.  or the timeing chain could be off.if it does run at that..
