Chevrolet: 1998 chevrolet malibu stalls, chevrolet malibu, factory specs

Hi   i have a 1998 malibu ,the check engine light is on ,when i start the car i have to shift it fast to drive if not will stall ,when is on drive or reverse is okey but as soon i shift it to park will stall  thanks for your help

  The check engine light is on for a reason, as the check light is set at factory specs and when some part of the engine is out of the specs, such as dirty,old,fouled,etc. it will cause the light to come on to let you know there is something wrong, i would say to check or replace the MAP sensor as that is the most common thing to cause trouble. and it should be put on a computor to see why the light is on.
