Lets get all the info. It's a 5.9. How many miles are on it? And what kind of problems?

I'll check back in a few hours.

RICH,
THE ENGINE HAS 134,000 MILES. THE PROBLEM IS WHEN I FIRST START IT UP, IT HAS NO POWER. I DRIVE AROUND THE BLOCK AND THEN IT SEEMS AS IF THE POWER BUILDS UP. IT IS SIMILAR TO A GAS ENGINE WITH THE CHOKE STUCK (OR NOT FULLY OPENED). I REPLACED FUEL INJECTOR PUMP LAST MONTH. THE SHOP KEPT IT FOR A WEEK TRYING TO DIAGNOSIS THE PROBLEM. ALSO, REPLACED( IN THE TANK) FILTER SCREEN. ANOTHER $600 PART UNDER THE CARBERATOR. IT STARTED THIS ABOUT 80,000 MILES AND $15,000 TO $20,000 LATER IT IS STILL DOING IT. JUST AN ON GOING PROBLEM THAT THE MECHANIC CAN'T PUT HIS FINGER OR DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT ON. ANY HELP OR SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.  I USE THIS TRUCK TOWING A 40' MINI FLOAT WITH LOADS WEIGHING BETWEEN  5,000 TO 20,000 LBS., AND FROM 8 ' TO 20' WIDE. I KNOW THE WIDTH AND WEIGHT AFFECTS THE PERFORMANCE, HOWEVER, IT DOES THIS EVEN WITH AN EMPTY LOAD AND PROBLEM IS SPORATIC. THANKS, LAYTON

Answer
I'm going to make an assumption that it is a turbo diesel. When it's warm I'm assuming the power is full. It has a carb? You said it was an 01. Have you checked the fuel pressure upon initial start-up and after warm-up? Done compression tests? I would say possibly blowby, but depending on the diesel motor oil, I don't see why it would be stronger warm....you run a single weight oil. Say, 30w or 40w? I think a fuel pressure test and compression test will tell you a lot. Let me know...I'm still new to diesels but I know how 4 cycle engines work. I know how the communication of electrical components and sensors work to manage the engine. I'll check back soon.
