Dodge: 4x4 wont shift to 2 wheel, jeep grand cherokee laredo, jeep grand cherokee

Hello Ram Man,

 I just bought a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 part time with the 4.0 L engine and 231J transfer case. It is stuck in 4x4. It will shift to 4x4 low and 4x4 high, but will not go to 2 wheel no matter what I try. I tried adjusting the linkage, and running it in reverse a bit and then neutral, and then trying to get it to go into 2 wheel. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you very much for any help. --Seth

Check to see if it has a vacuum line running to the transfer case and back to the manifold someplace and check this very well for any sign of it being cracked or something as small as a pin hole.Most of them shift with a vacuum also.Let me know if you find anything.RamMAN
