Dodge: 1999 dodge rear brakes, rear brakes, dodge 1500

Question
I am changing the brakes on the rear of my 1999 dodge 1500. The truck has 85000 miles and rear brakes are very worn. I am not able to get the drums off , I guess due to a lip worn in the drum that the pads are catching on. I do not find the normal adjustment hole to loosen the brakes up. I did loosen the parking brake . It looks like there is a knock out hole that hasnt been knocked out. Is this a possibility if brakes had never been changed.. Thanks

Answer
Yes there is a plug on the back of the hub that will have to be removed to get the wheel off, most of the time you will have to back the screw off to retract the shoes from the hub. Also it helps to put penetrating oil at the hub to drum joint.DO NOT BREATHE ANY OF THE DUST THAT COMES OUT OF THE HUB WHATEVER YOU DO,THIS STUFF HAS ASBESTOS IN IT.USE A MASK OR RINSE WITH THE WATER HOSE BEFORE ATTEMPTING THE BRAKE JOB.
