Dodge: 95 Dodge Diesel, banks power pack, dodge cummins

Question
I have a 95 Dodge/Cummins Ram 3500 w/Automatic.
1. Once in awhile, not always, the temp guage will go up to about 190/195 and stay for just a minute or two and then go right back down to 140/150. I replaced the thermostat and it did not correct the problem. It does not appear to be hot when it goes up, so I bought a new sending unit. I haven't found where it goes yet but I will.
2. Also, I would like to adjust the valves. I read where you gave instructions to someone, but I think it was a different year then mine.
3. I am going to install the Banks Power Pack and also the Exaust Brake. Any tips?

Answer
Bill,
The temperature fluctuating could be many things, have you checked the rediator to see if it has any build up or residue inside it?It could also have air in the system like an air pocket. If you need to know where the sending unit is let me know i'll locate it in the manual.Same with the valves. As far as the Banks Power Pack,I've read a lot of posts where people have installed them and gotten a lot better performance, but this is just from reading,i've never installed one.You can check the website or visit some of the forums for the diesel engine and see if they show any suggestions on how to install it.Just didn't want to give you any negative feedback on it because i really don't know much about the power packs.Just make sure it is compatible with your engine before you order.RamMan
