Dodge: dodge cargo van 1500, gas mileage, cargo van

i just bought a dodge cargo van 1500 its got about 25000miles on it and its its got the V8 and im just getting about 14miles to the gallon is that normal? and in overdrive it seems sluggush do u have anyidea is thats a pro or not? thank you

Is it a 318 or 360?If it's the 360 it's not going to get much better gas mileage.Plus it's a heavy van so gas mileage isn't going to be very good.How do you mean sluggish?Some cars shift into overdrive at about 45 m.p.h.If it's sluggish around town it can be normal.Some of the Dodge automobiles have a button on the dash where you can turn overdrive off.If this has one you may want to try turning it off until driving on the highway.
