Ford: 89 Ford crown victoria runs rough under light acceleration, ford crown victoria, coolant level

Question
QUESTION: I am working on a 1989 ford crown victoria with a 302 it only has about
57k original miles as it is my 90 year old grandmother's car. She was
complaining that it was bucking and jerking. I test drove it and found that
under light acceleration it starts cutting out and misfiring but if you push
the accelerator to the floor it stops and accelerates fine. If you rev it up in
park or neutral it's fine, it only happens when in gear and under a load. I
inspected the cap and rotor and found that they were original and had lots
of pitting and the coil wire was in poor condition so I replaced them. The
only other thing that has been replaced is the fuel filter. My gut tells me it's
a coil that is bad but I don't understand why it only cuts out under light
acceleration and not hard acceleration. Any ideas? Thanks

ANSWER: this  may sound crazy but ck the coolant level in the radiator. We had a lot of problems with it low on coolant.Do this first and let me know

QUESTION: Well I checked the coolant level this evening and found it low
I topped it off and went for a test drive and it is still
cutting out. For some reason I think that I have heard of
that happening when the coolant is low. Why does that happen? I checked
the ignition wires and found that they are original they say 1989 on them
which makes me wonder if the plugs need to be checked. Any
suggestions?

Answer
Yes i  would first do a complete tune up ,and make sure you use autolite or motorcraft plugs, and make sure you ck the timing.Change the cap and rotor and wires ,you have to start here first /also there  is a PVC valve in the back of the motor and under that there is a screen a must to change
