Ford: Smooth riding truck, mercury grand marquis, grand marquis

Question
QUESTION: My husband has medical problems when it comes to vibration and we are retiring soon. We have a chance to buy a 26 ft travel trailer very cheap.  What I need to know is what is the smoothest riding truck on the market today that would be able to pull this travel trailer with out overloading it.
My husband wants to pull it with our Mercury Grand Marquis, because he feel comfortable traveling in this car. But I have seen that it may have transmission problems among other problems towing this much weight.  We plan to pull it in the mountains some.

ANSWER: Hello

What year is the Grand Marquis? and which engine does it have?

What transmission woes do you foresee?

What is the trailer weight?

What other problems does the car have?

QUESTION: Our Grand Marquis is a 2006 Model with about 60,000 mile on it.
On the chat boards, people have told of transmission problems after towing a trailer this big, as soon as 60,000 miles, so I assume that it would tear up the transmission if we towed this trailer.
The approximate weight of the 26 ft trailer is about 4,900 to 5,500 lbs loaded.  Trailer, hitch, personal items.
Up to now we have only had to put a electronic module for the gas injectors on the engine.  It may need new brakes by now.  Bought it used with 18,000 miles.  We've had it about 3 years now.
I would really feel safer pulling it with a truck as I have pulled trailers before.
Do you have any idea of a smooth riding truck out there?

Answer
The softest riding truck in my opinion is Chev/ GMC
Toyota Tundra is also soft riding

If you wish to stay with a Ford, i suggest a F150 with Air bags added for the load.
An added transmission cooler will help any automatic last longer and pull better
