Ford: 2004 F-150 wont start, mechanic friend, pressure gauge

Question
I am having trouble with my 2004 F-150 5.4l v-8 starting. It started about two weeks ago went to warm up truck to drive then as I left to go inside it just died. It took nearly 1/2 hour of fooling around before it started again. It worked fine for about three weeks then I took a trip to my dad's about 3 hrs away and it sat there unstarted for about 10 days. When I tried to start it it would turn over fine but not catch. I was told by a mechanic friend of dads that it was the fuel pump. he replaced the fuel pump at his place when I went to pick it up at his place it wouldn't start. He said it was some type of security code lockout. Finally got it to start by playing with remote keys, but I don't think that was the problem. I drove it home and tried to start it again but it wouldn't start, turns over but doesn't catch. It started for about 3 seconds then died. Like it was starving for fuel cause when you pressed on the accelerator nothing happened.Could it be the fuel pump driver module? At this point I don't know what to do. I will check to see if the FPDM is corroded or bad except I don't know where it is or what it looks like.Where do I go from here, have it towed to a dealer? I already spent $640.00 on towing and fuel pump and labor.

Answer
When you turn the engine over do you have RPMs registering on the RPM gauge?  If not I would replace the cam positioning sensor.  You can also pull the spark plugs to see if you have spark.  If you want to check fuel pressure you should be able to put a pressure gauge right into the fuel rail and you should be getting right at 60 psi.  Check the RPMs first and let me know.  We can go deeper from there.
