Ford: vibration, ford explorer eddie bauer, explorer eddie bauer

I have a 99 ford explorer eddie bauer edition.auto 4x4 v6, 104000 miles. On heavier acceleration there is a loud vibration under the vehicle that can be heard & felt. I've replaced wheel bearings and problem has continued.

Sounds alot like a drivetrain vibration.

Inspect all u-joints with e-brake on and vehicle in neutral. Look for rust or looseness in the joints or yokes. check the rear pinion for excessive movement in and out or up and down.


Failing that, Lift and support all 4 wheels and try driving at the speed you most feel the vibration. If evident, then carefully inspect under the vehicle to determine the source.


You may have to put it in 4X4.
