Ford: Ford Sport Trac front end noise, lower ball joints, explorer sport trac

QUESTION: I own a 2001 explorer sport trac with approximately 130k miles. There is a 'clunking' sound the seems to come from the left front(driver's side) of the vehicle when going over bumps. The upper & lower ball joints and tie rod were replaced about a week ago, but the noise persists.

ANSWER: is this a awd -2wd -or a 4wd vehicle

ok this is one of those things i would need to road test. but what i would ck is the u-joint that goes to the spine the way to do this is to raise the vehicle up and rotate the wheel back and forth and see if you can hear the clunk or a clicking noise.ck both sides .were are you located?
