Ford: 1989 5.0 fuel pump, vent tube, gas tank

i have a 1989 5.0 how difficult is it to change out a fuel pump on my own (i know i have to drop the tank). and can i put a 255lph in it,I might be doing more upgrades down the road.  thanks for your help !!!!

The fuel pump is verry easy... to do it support the fuel tank with a block of wood and a jack... loosen and remove the 2 bolts holding the gas tank straps in place... the other end of the straps have a pin holding them in. it is a pain to get the pin out but it is do-able... move the straps out of the way... where the filler neck goes into the gas tank there is a 7 or 8mm bolt holding a ring to the tank... remove it and move the ring back... lower the jack and start sliding the gas tank to the drivers side... lower and slide the tank to the drivers side untill it is free... remove the electrical connector, fuel lines and the vent tube and there ya go... just have ti remove the retaining ring on the fuel pump hanger.. .(A screwdriver and hammer do this nicely... and remove the pump hanger from the tank... the rest should be self explanitory... hope this helps and try to run as much of the gas out of the tank as possable before doing this.....
