Ken, I retrieved some codes from the on-board brain, I understood all except for one, "PIP circuit board failure", can't find anywhere what "PIP" stands for?

its part of the ignition system. it either on or next to the ignition module.you must have a tfi-iv or di system.unless you have expensive tools like a good scan tool you will have to take it to a garage.advance auto or autozone wiil do a scan for free instead of paying 100 bucks or more.without your pip sensor working properly one of these times your ranger will not start.hope this helps.
