Ford: mpg, what effects it?, distributer cap, crank case

Question
Hi,
I HAVE A '01 FORD EXPLORE AND NOTICED THAT 5R55E TRANNY WHICH HAS SLIGHTLY ABOVE RECOMMENDED ATF LEVEL.  IS THAT SOMETHING THAT COULD SLIGHTLY DECREASE MPG?  MAYBE SIMILAR TO LIKE OVERFILL OR FULL FILL IN CRANK CASE? IN GENERAL, WHAT ARE ALL THE THINGS THAT HAVE DIRECT AFFECT ON MPG INCREASE OR DECREASE? THANKS FOR THE HELP.

Answer
JOE

your atf level a little high will not affect gas mpg, however its not good for the tranny as to much pressure will blow out lines or worse.things that affect mpg are plugs, plug wires, air filter, distributer cap.the bottom line is give your car a good tune up and you will save gas which includes a gas filter.also your driving habits affects mpg.hope this helps.
