Ford: Ford ignition, battery cables, victoria canada

Question
Hello,

Hope you can help me. I have a 1990 Ford F250. When I turn the key to start, there is sometimes a pause before turning over. Sometimes nothing happes (when I turn the key) and I may have to try several times to get to crank over. The battery seems fine.  Thanks in Advance. Adam in Victoria, Canada

Answer
Mr. Heffelfinger,

First make sure that you have clean battery terminals and that the battery cables are good. You should have 12.4 volts to your battery (vehicle not on). Also, check your starter solinoid, which should be located on the passenger side fire wall. Lastly check your ignition switch. If you need further assistance with anything, please do not hesitate to contact me further. Hope that this helps and good luck.
