Ford: Acceleartion Problem, powertrain control module, information chart

Question
Hello,

I am having Ford Focus 00. Since last couple of weeks, I am facing a acceleration problem which is not consistent ..it happens some time. My car shows hesitant in pick up and I feel that car engine is taking load and extra noise too in engine. It happens for 2-3 mins and when I leave the gas paddle and try after 2-3 mins to accelerate slowly ..it seems to look fine. I live in PA..so there are not plain roads. Earlier, I thot may be due to some hill area roads..but I have noticed that this problem also happens in almost plain road also.

Thanks in advanec for yr help.

Thanks,
Prashant

Answer
FORD: 2000-2001 FOCUS

ISSUE:
Some vehicles equipped with a 2.0L Zetec engine may exhibit a hesitation/surge at cruise or light tip-in at 72-96 km/h (45-60 mph) and/or a cold idle roughness, hesitation/surge and/or long crank times after a hot soak condition. This may be caused by the calibration of the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

ACTION:
Verify condition. If normal diagnostics cannot pinpoint the condition, reprogram the PCM with the latest level calibration. Refer to the following PCM Calibration Information chart for details.
