Ford: 1990 ford probe noise when turning, tie rod ends, strut bearings

Hi, my probe started making a noise when I turned the wheel. It all started on the passenger front side of the car, when the steering wheel was fully cranked to one side there would be a spring like cracking noise as if the spring above the wheel was moving.  It got worse very fast, spreading to the left side of the car.  Now when I turn the wheel more than half way in any direction there are loud mechanical noises that can be heard clearly inside the car, and even more clearly on the outside.  At first I thought it could be the powersteering, the fluid is fine, and it feels fine when turning.  Could this maybe be the tie rod ends or something to do with the suspension?  Oh another observation I made with this condition is that say you take a right turn, you hear the noise, straighten out the wheel, now the car will pull to the one side you just turned.  Same thing will happend if you turn left, the steering wheel will pull to the side you turned last once you straighten it out.  To better describe the noise it makes, it is sounds as if something that should not be moving (perhaps the spring /shock) is being forced to rotate once I turn the wheel.  Then that makes the car pull to the side you turned last.  Any ideas what this might be ? Thanks.

More then likely it sounds like the tie rod ends. the first thing i would do is jack up the center of the car and shake the wheel rt to left.if there is a lot of play look to see under you will cearly see what it is.have a friend help you one shakes the other looks.

Hey the tie rods are fine, there was no play, its all tight.  The problem was the Strut Bearings on both wheels, I had to lube them up and it solved the problem.  They were lubbed up from the top where the shocks are connected to the car under the hood.  After some driving the noise went away and its slowly getting better (it pulls less and less to each side).  Maybe you can post this for people with similar problems.

Also I have another question. My car rides smooth under 110km/h, once over, especially at 120km/h it shakes alot, and then again less at 130km/h.  It just shakes in even 2 or 3 second intervals when going faster. Any ideas? Thanks.

Answer
have you had the tires balance lately? also since the upper strut cups were making noise did you by any chance look to see if the springs had any crackes in them?or for that matter ck to see if the struts were worn or leaking?look at the ware of the tires to see if there is a ware pattern or a choppy or cuping?
