GM-GMC: maf p0101, maf sensor, code pop

I had this code pop up. I cleaned the maf sensor and the light went out. 1 day later the light came back on. I put the original filter back on the truck because i had a k and n filter on there i re cleaned the sensor and the light will not go off. about every 15 stops or so the rpm gauge drops to 2-300 and almost dies but most times it will catch and stay running. Is this my maf sensor going bad? would it cause this.

Without knowing what vehicle, what engine, what year etc I would hazard a guess that you'll need a new MAF sensor.  Double check the wiring to ensure all the terminals are ok and none of the wires are damaged etc.  If everything looks ok.  You will need a MAF sensor.  Your engine will struggle to run without being able to meter the air entering the engine.
