GM-GMC: 98 gmc problems, pcv valve, coolant temp

Question
QUESTION: Put plug wires on and replaced coolant temp sensor and now the truck 1)pings excessively,2)has a loud buzzing noise in engine compartment and 3)temp gauge only goes up to around 160 degrees(heat coming out feels cooler)What could be causing these problems? Thanks.

ANSWER: I don't know where to start?  If you are certain that you have installed the correct temp sensor, I would change the thermostat, it is a relatively cheap and easy repair and is a good piece of preventative maintenance anyways.  For the pinging,  if it didn't ping before replacing the plug wires, I would put a different set of wires on it and see if the pinging goes away, check your timing and ensure your egr is functioning properly.  As for the buzzing noise?  You will need to provide me with a little more info.  What area is it coming from?  Engine running?  At idle? Etc Etc.
Hope this helps

QUESTION: Here is more info-The buzzing noise seems to be near where the pcv valve is located(in this general area)and only does it when the engine is running no matter what the rpm.Seems to change when you grab the line that is connected to the pcv valve.did end up finding out the thermostat is bad.Just a coincidence it happened when it did. Thanks

Answer
If you remove the pcv valve and shake it, it will rattle around, or atleast it should.  The buzzing noise is likely that little ball moving as the air in vented from the crankcase into the valve cover.  If the buzzing noise is too loud, replace it with a different one, that should stop the buzzing.
